Unzila Chowdury (she/her) is Laal's Director of Development. Before coming to Laal, Unzila worked in different capacities with various unique populations including formerly incarcerated individuals, the Native American government, and unhoused individuals. Apart from Laal, Unzila currently works at the intersection of multi-family affordable housing and clean energy; as well as at a Community Development Financial Institution. Unzila is a CORO NY Workforce fellow.
As a Bangladeshi womxn, Unzila wanted to work with her own community. Unzila was drawn to Laal's inspiring and revolutionary work and feels lucky to be a part of this organization.
Unzila holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Environmental Science, with a Minor in Women, Gender and Sexuality from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 2017. She received a Master's degree in Nonprofit Management from Antioch University in 2022.
